Liver Cancer Causes alcohol consumption, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease hepatitis B, and hepatitis C. Hepatocellular carcinoma is much more common in men.

The liver is the largest glandular organ in our body. Its main functions include making way to ooze toxins and various other harmful substances. It also produces bile. It is a squashy fluid material that helps us assimilate fats, vitamins, and several other nutrients.

  • The extrahepatic form develops in the ducts outside of the organ.


These cancers grow too fast and need prompt treatment. Alas! Doctors can find it at a comparatively later stage. Rare are these and account for 1% of the total cases.

The ailment is host-friendly; thus, patients offer quicker responses than most tumor diseases.                                                                                                                                                                      

Secondary types

You will come across liver metastasis when primary cancer spreads to the endocrine gland. A greater part of such ailment develops in our colon. Statistics have also agreed with such a consensus.

Liver Cancer Risk Factors

Common risk factors for the disease include:

  • High age; most of the infected people are above 60 years of age.
  • Men have more probability to have it.

  • The disease is more prevalent among Asian immigrants to the USA and Pacific Islanders. The latter ones have got the maximum number of infections from Hepatitis B or C.

Several lifestyle factors may cause the disease. These include:

  • Uncontrolled alcoholic consumption
  • Smoking.
  • Chronic exposure to arsenic especially in drinking water.
  • Use of anabolic steroids by duped players.

Liver Cancer Diagnosis

Your treatment for the illness starts with a diagnosis. Your team of medical experts will carry out several tests and tools for disease confirmation and evaluation.

Properly done diagnosis help in tracking the disease and determining its size. This also evaluates your treatment response capacity. They can plan your treatment accordingly.


The process involves a collection of tissue samples; it helps the doctor determine the disease type and stage. Minimal invasive methods are more used these days to obtain precise results.

Bone Scan

Your doctor will take the test if you are suffering from bone pain. H/she will conduct the same if blood test reports reveal elevated calcium levels.

CT scan

Computed scanning also helps determine the size and shape of the tumor. You can get its positional idea from this test.


With Magnetic Resonance, doctors can identify the tumor nature from the options like benign and malignant.
